Money is the source of all Good

Ayn Rand wrote extensively on the topic of capitalism, money, the creation of wealth, and the right of the individual to pursue his dreams in the face of leechers and moochers out to steal his money to fund their own depravity and failures.

One of her most telling, most startlingly wise quotes is:

So you think that money is the root of all evil? Have you ever asked what is the root of money? Money is a tool of exchange, which can’t exist unless there are goods produced and men able to produce them. Money is the material shape of the principle that men who wish to deal with one another must deal by trade and give value for value. Money is not the tool of the moochers, who claim your product by tears or of the looters, who take it from you by force. Money is made possible only by the men who produce. Is this what you consider evil?

As we can clearly see in our own world, evil sneaks in when making money is being attacked as evil. Hitler, Stalin, Mao, Pol Pot, any old Pope, and every other tyrant throughout history has attacked the creators, the inventors, the businessmen. They are to be regulated, taxed, hated, enslaved.

So what brought this to my mind? Well.. I just read an article by the corrupt International Olympic Committe where it stated that Chicago did not get the Olympics despite that it would have been the most profitable, because “money doesn’t matter”. This is, of course, a lie. But it shows corruption in its most naked form. You see, there are two types of rich people. Those who are proud of how they got that way, and those who prefer to avoid talking about it. Clearly the IOC moguls are of the latter variety.
