Mirsad Bektašević – Swedish?

In the United States, there’s a difference between naturalized citizens and born citizens. There’s also the tendency to add nation of origin to the term American to denote one’s heritage, such as Italian-American, Irish-American, African-American, and so on.

In Sweden, however, such is not the case. The media calls all individuals with a Swedish passport “Swedes”. This creates some rather humorous situations, in which case people who haven’t lived in Sweden for ten years, can’t speak the language, and were only here for a few years as refugees now have a permanent right to expensive aid whenever a crisis happens in their home countries. I remember recently in the Israeli invasion of Hezbollah-controlled parts of Lebanon, there were “Swedes” who wanted to be evacuated and protected. Of course, interviewed they couldn’t speak Swedish more than a few phrases, and had lived in their native countries virtually all their lives aside from a brief interlude here. Expensive, and silly.

Of course, the most blatantly idiotic example comes today in GT.  The “Terrorist Swede” is being sent “home” to a Swedish prison. Of course, Mirsad Bektašević was born in Bosnia. He lived there until the mid 90’s. Less than ten years later he was back down there, except in an apartment filled to the brim with weapons, ammunition, and even so-called suicide belts packed with explosives. He was sentenced to 15 years in prison.

Now, however, he’s been sent “home” to Sweden, where he will get weekends off, Internet access (he was previously an online recruiter for Al-Qaeda), his own room with TV, time at the gym, and a salary. He will no doubt be released within a year or two as well, having thus served less than half his original sentence.

What I’m wondering is why we are doing this to ourselves. What sort of mentally deficient incompetent sat down and actually thought importing foreign-bred terrorists was a good thing?

It’s as if this entire country, mired knee-deep in socialism, thinks that the worse a person is, the more they deserve our help.
